Excitement is soaring among cadets this week as the JROTC program unveiled its brand-new indoor archery range. The 10-meter classroom range, now fully operational, marks the beginning of an ambitious new chapter for the unit.
Practice sessions are already underway, with cadets able to sign up for slots on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings. While the range can accommodate up to eight shooters at a time, instructors say the ideal number of participants is three to six per session to maximize training and safety.
The program is also expanding its facilities. Five new targets and an additional safety curtain have been ordered for the outdoor range, which is expected to be ready by November 1. Once complete, the outdoor setup will allow both morning and afternoon practices, opening opportunities for even more cadets to participate.
The excitement doesn’t stop there. The team is set to compete in its first official match on November 8 at Lee County High School, where six of the top shooters will represent the program. This marks the beginning of the school’s inaugural archery season, a milestone many have been eagerly anticipating.
Organizers encourage cadets to take advantage of the new opportunities and get involved in what promises to be a dynamic and competitive season.
